ANNUA Signature Hotels has opened Gran Hotel Margalida in Banyalbufar, Mallorca, marking the brand's fifth property and the first to include a fully integrated spa and wellness offering. The 29-room hotel sits on the cliffside village overlooking the Mediterranean where the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountain range meets the coast.

The property was restored and reimagined by interior designer Virginia Nieto alongside Spanish architects Alvaro Onieva and Alvaro Mesonero Romanos. The design emphasizes local materials and artisan craftsmanship, with all furniture created exclusively for the hotel. Guest rooms feature handwoven plant-fiber lighting from the Yucatán, locally blown glass, bespoke ceramics and Telas de Lengua fabric, a traditional Mallorcan textile. Amenities include Loewe Candles and Aesop products. A signature pale yellow, created exclusively for the hotel, provides visual cohesion throughout the interiors.

The wellness program, called The Baths of Margalida, represents a departure for the brand into structured health offerings. Facilities include a panoramic fitness studio with Technogym equipment, a dedicated reformer Pilates studio and an outdoor yoga platform with sea views. The spa offers four signature rituals inspired by the landscape, advanced Natura Bissé facial treatments and body therapies ranging from deep tissue massage to Ayurvedic rituals. A rotating calendar of visiting practitioners will introduce new therapies throughout the year.

Gastronomy is led by Mallorcan-born Head Chef Joan Escalas, formerly at one of the island's two Michelin-starred restaurants. The culinary program emphasizes seasonal ingredients sourced from local fishermen, farmers and producers in the Serra de Tramuntana. Signature dishes include confit leeks with vanilla and truffle vichyssoise, bluefin tuna with trompó and grilled avocado, and confit Mallorcan black pork with cabbage and pine nuts. Three dining venues operate across the property: the clifftop Restaurant Gran Hotel Margalida, The Oyster Bar featuring raw seafood and citrus pairings, and The Pool Bar for daytime service.

The opening follows ANNUA's previous launches of César Lanzarote, Son Xotano in Mallorca, and Amagatay and Morvedra Nou in Menorca. The hotel offers experiences including private sailing tours, guided walks along the Serra de Tramuntana, olive oil tastings at the neighboring 500-year-old Son Moragues estate, and artisan craft workshops in pottery, ceramics and leatherwork with local makers. The property accommodates weddings of up to 150 guests across its terraces and courtyards.

The hotel's positioning as a wellness-forward Mediterranean destination reflects broader luxury hospitality trends toward integrated health programming and experiential offerings tied to regional heritage.
