Dellshire Resort Opens in Wisconsin Dells With 70-Foot Fire-Breathing Dragon

Dellshire Resort opened in Wisconsin Dells on June 9, 2026, introducing a 208-room property designed around medieval-inspired storytelling and experiential hospitality. The resort marks the first new build in the destination in more than two decades, positioning itself as an alternative to the waterpark-focused attractions that have long defined the market.
The centerpiece is Golspar, a 70-foot-long steel dragon created by Las Vegas-based metal sculptor Kevin Stone. The nearly 17,000-pound structure breathes fire at the entrance and serves as the resort's primary design anchor. According to Michael Lucero, General Manager of Dellshire Resort, the fantasy immersion extends throughout the property: "A fire-breathing dragon welcomes people at the entrance, and the immersion only deepens from there. The fantasy world we've created goes beyond architecture and lives in programming, rooms, and dining."
The guestroom portfolio spans 11 distinct accommodation types, ranging from traditional Valor Rooms and Noble Rooms that sleep four to six guests to the King's Quarters, a 1,500-square-foot suite that sleeps up to 13. Six suite configurations—including the Earl Suite, Watchtower Suite, Gatehouse Suite, Duke Suite, Queen's Quarters, and King's Quarters—target larger groups and corporate retreats. Dark woods, custom millwork, and arched windows carry the medieval design language throughout, while elevated amenities and flexible layouts provide practical comfort.
Operational amenities include Serpent's Bay, an indoor-outdoor aquatic complex with five distinct pools and splash experiences, including Scale Cove, an adults-only swim-up bar. Five food and beverage outlets anchor dining operations, led by the tavern-style Blade & Barrel restaurant. Hero's Hall offers a 9,000-square-foot arcade and entertainment space with dedicated private party rooms. The Chaucer-Troyes Ballroom provides 280 seats for meetings and events, with vaulted ceilings and stone walls. The Thirsty Dragon bar operates in the two-story castle-like lobby, while Kettle & Keep serves as a boutique marketplace and grab-and-go provisions shop.
The resort plans to launch Legends of Dellshire, a property-wide mixed reality experience, in summer 2026. The property positions itself for both leisure families and corporate groups seeking an alternative to conventional convention hotels and family resorts in the upper Midwest market.
