FH55 Hotels Launches Brand Overhaul After 70 Years in Italian Luxury
The family-owned group unifies its four properties under a new visual identity while preserving individual hotel personalities and strengthening market position
FH55 Hotels, the Italian hotel group founded in 1955, has unveiled a comprehensive rebranding initiative designed to strengthen its market presence while maintaining the distinct character of each property. The effort represents the group's first major identity repositioning in decades, reflecting both its heritage and contemporary direction in luxury hospitality.
The rebranding centers on establishing FH55 as the primary identifying mark across all four properties: Grand Hotel Palatino in Rome, Grand Hotel Mediterraneo in Florence, Hotel Calzaiuoli in Florence, and Hotel Villa Fiesole. Rather than impose uniformity, the new brand architecture preserves each hotel's individual identity while connecting them through shared strategic values and a cohesive visual system. Claudio Catani, Vice President Operations of FH55 Hotels, stated: "This rebranding represents an important milestone in the history of FH55 Hotels, because it allows us to give a new expression to an identity rooted in more than 70 years of Italian hospitality. We did not simply want to change a logo, but to communicate more clearly who we are today and, above all, where we want to go."
The visual identity rests on two primary colors: FH55 Testa di Moro as the lead color and FH55 Beige as complement, with accent colors assigned to individual properties. Typography combines Ivy Presto, an elegant serif typeface, with Futura Std for contemporary balance. Each property receives its own pictogram inspired by its destination's cultural and geographical characteristics. The new positioning defines FH55 Hotels as offering "charming luxury"—understated and approachable rather than ostentatious—that combines elegance, comfort and authenticity.
Founded by Dino Innocenti, the group traces its origins to the 1955 opening of Grand Hotel Mediterraneo in Florence, followed by Grand Hotel Palatino in Rome in 1968. Hotel Calzaiuoli joined the portfolio in 1982, with Hotel Villa Fiesole acquired in 1995. The 2025 anniversary marking seven decades of operations prompted the strategic reassessment. The rebranding accompanies broader property renovations and growth initiatives aimed at strengthening luxury positioning across all four locations.
The group's five guiding principles—tradition and roots, excellence and quality, functional elegance, responsible innovation, and integrated sustainability—anchor the transformation. FH55 Hotels has emphasized its charitable work, including a November 2023 initiative with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Florence that redirects surplus breakfast items from Grand Hotel Mediterraneo to residents at the institute. The rebranding reflects the owners' intention to grow the group while preserving its family-owned, Italian character and emphasis on personalized guest experience.
With the identity framework now in place, FH55 Hotels faces the execution phase of translating visual coherence into market recognition among international luxury travelers accustomed to larger, more distributed hospitality groups.
