Katsuya Beach Opens at Hodges Bay Resort in Antigua
The Japanese dining brand marks its Caribbean debut and 20th anniversary with a shorefront location at the HQ Collection property on Antigua's northern coast.
Katsuya Beach has opened at Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua, marking the first location of the globally recognized Japanese dining brand on the Caribbean island. The restaurant debuts as part of the resort's position within the HQ Collection by sbe, a portfolio of lifestyle resorts operated in partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
The opening coincides with Katsuya's twentieth anniversary. The brand, which began with a Brentwood location in 2006, has expanded to multiple sites across Los Angeles—including Downtown LA, Hollywood, and Century City—as well as Baha Mar in The Bahamas. Katsuya Beach represents the brand's first Antigua concept and its latest geographic expansion.
The restaurant sits along Hodges Bay's shoreline and combines Japanese minimalist design with Caribbean coastal aesthetics. The space features panoramic sunset views of Prickly Pear Island, an open-air layout, and a sculptural wood installation through the ceiling resembling wave movement. Low lighting, dark finishes, and Japanese motifs create a moody atmosphere steps from white sand.
The menu balances signature Katsuya dishes with Caribbean-inspired coastal offerings. Offerings include Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Baked Crab Hand Rolls, Local Lobster Ceviche, Grilled Local Lobster with Shichimi Butter, and Crispy Local Fish with Tobanjan Mint Sauce. Additional items feature a Surf & Turf Roll with seared filet mignon and truffle ponzu, Miso-Glazed Salmon, Angus Filet Mignon, and Tomahawk Short Rib. Desserts include Brown Butter Glazed Donuts with coconut cream sauce and mango jam, and Miso Chocolate Cake served with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries.
Christopher Eastmond, General Manager of Hodges Bay Resort & Spa, said: "Katsuya Beach represents an exciting new chapter for Hodges Bay Resort & Spa and Antigua's culinary scene. We're proud to introduce such an internationally recognized dining concept to the island of Antigua and to become part of Katsuya's continued legacy, while further elevating our guest experience through constant innovation and pairing that with the warmth, culture and hospitality the Caribbean is known for."
Hodges Bay Resort & Spa includes 79 accommodations spanning suites and four-bedroom oceanside villas across eight acres. Additional dining venues include White Sands, the Drift Bar, NaCI Restaurant, and Prickly Pear Island, accessible by complimentary boat transfer. The property operates under HQ Hotels & Residences, which plans to open 50 hotels globally by 2031, with 50% located in the USA.
