sbe to Bring Katsuya and Umami to Palm Springs Hotel
V Capri Palm Springs joins sbe's HQ Hotels collection with planned restaurant debuts and multimillion-dollar property renovation.
V Capri Palm Springs, a Dolce by Wyndham hotel owned by Mark Geragos, has joined sbe Entertainment Group's HQ Hotels & Residences collection as part of a planned multimillion-dollar transformation that will introduce sbe's restaurant brands to the desert market.
The 140-room boutique property, located minutes from downtown Palm Springs, will undergo phased enhancements beginning later this year with the debut of Umami Pool, an adults-only day-to-night venue offering food, cocktails and entertainment. In early 2027, the current Gigi's Restaurant will transition to Katsuya Ko, introducing sbe's pan-Asian concept to the destination. Additional renovations to guestrooms and public spaces will follow as part of the enhancement program.
Sam Nazarian, founder, chairman and CEO of sbe, said the property's existing character made it an attractive acquisition. "V Capri Palm Springs already has an authentic personality and a loyal following, which made it such an exciting opportunity for us," Nazarian said. "We're building on that foundation with the creativity, energy and attention to detail that define our portfolio, creating something that feels fresh while staying true to what makes this hotel unique."
Geragos noted the partnership aligns with the property's evolution. "With sbe, we're building on that foundation through meaningful investment and an elevated guest experience that will set a new standard for the destination," he said. The hotel will continue its Dolce by Wyndham affiliation while operating under sbe's hospitality expertise.
The Palm Springs addition marks another expansion milestone for HQ Hotels & Residences, the hospitality platform backed by strategic partner and equity investor Marc Anthony and his company Magnus. Recent openings include The Monarch Hotel in New Orleans and Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua. Forthcoming projects include HQ Cas En Bas Resort & Residences in Saint Lucia and HQ Residences Edgewater in Miami, with the company targeting 50 hotels worldwide.
The company's dining strategy leverages partnerships with culinary figures including Chef Katsuya Uechi, Chef Dani Garcia and Chef Wes Avila through sbe's restaurant division. As HQ Hotels & Residences accelerates its pipeline across premium leisure destinations, the integration of established culinary brands into secondary markets suggests a scaling model for sbe's multibranded approach.
