Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Marks 125 Years With Curated Experiences
The Hanoi hotel, operating since 1901, launches anniversary programming across dining, wellness and cultural offerings throughout 2026.
Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is marking its 125th anniversary with a series of curated experiences spanning dining, wellness and cultural programming throughout 2026. The hotel, which opened in 1901, is positioning the milestone as an opportunity to honor its colonial heritage while deepening engagement with luxury travelers seeking historical and experiential depth.
The centerpiece offering, the "Live the Legend Experience," packages a minimum two-night stay with daily breakfast for two, an elevated Vietnamese lunch at the hotel's Spice Garden restaurant, and a guided tour of the property's history and wartime bomb shelter. The package includes guaranteed 11am early check-in, 2pm late checkout, and a complimentary room upgrade to the next non-suite category, subject to availability. Bookings are available through September 30.
George Koumendakos, General Manager of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, stated: "For 125 years this hotel has been the beating heart of Hanoi — witnessing history, welcoming the world, and setting the standard for refined hospitality. This anniversary allows us to honour that remarkable legacy while inviting guests to experience the timeless soul of the Metropole in fresh, unforgettable ways as we look confidently to the future."
The hotel has developed dedicated programming across its venues. At Le Spa du Metropole, the "Sensations Orientales" wellness journey, a 90-minute treatment available through year-end, combines enzymatic exfoliation with Sothys' Digi-Esthétique® techniques. Spice Garden is offering a pho broth simmered for 125 hours, featuring Wagyu beef and gold leaf short rib with tableside service. Le Beaulieu, described as Vietnam's oldest continually operating restaurant since 1901, features a 3-course set menu with dishes including Lobster Bisque and Crêpe Suzette with guéridon service. Bamboo Bar has introduced the "Carnet de Voyage" cocktail collection inspired by 1920s Indochina travel, while Club Bar features signature cocktails honoring former guests including Charlie Chaplin and Graham Greene, alongside a new burger called "1901." The cocktail lounge angelina has unveiled the "Metropole Liquid Chapters" menu, with drinks commemorating 1901, 1968 and 2026.
Cultural programming includes exhibitions launched in June at the Heritage Wing and Opera Wing featuring rare photographs spanning early 20th-century colonial Indochina through contemporary periods. The hotel plans additional exhibitions throughout the year focused on Indochine-era art, photography and Vietnamese cultural heritage. The property is also publishing Le Petit Journal, a bi-monthly newspaper featuring hotel moments and updates, and the Metropole History Book, an archive of property and city milestones available at La Boutique and via e-commerce.
The hotel is offering branded merchandise through La Boutique and L'Epicerie, along with e-vouchers for gift experiences. The property's first Sofitel Legend location globally has historically hosted playwrights, ambassadors and heads of state. Industry observers note the timing reflects broader luxury hospitality strategy focusing on heritage narratives and experiential programming as differentiation in competitive urban markets.
